The ease of doing business captures the gap of each economy from the best regulatory performance observed on indicators across all economies in the world. Such indicators include starting of a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registry property, getting credit and taxations imposed. These are the top 10 African countries ranked high with ease of doing business.

The rank of Djibouti improved to 99 in 2018 from 154 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Djibouti averaged 159.09 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 172 in 2012 and a record low of 99 in 2018.

9. Seychelles

  • World Rank: 96

The rank of Seychelles deteriorated to 96 in 2018 from 95 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Seychelles averaged 96.91 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 111 in 2009 and a record low of 77 in 2012.

8. Zambia

  • World Rank: 87

The rank of Zambia deteriorated to 87 in 2018 from 85 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Zambia averaged 89.18 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 99 in 2008 and a record low of 80 in 2010.

7. Botswana

  • World Rank: 86

The rank of Botswana deteriorated to 86 in 2018 from 81 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Botswana averaged 62.82 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 86 in 2018 and a record low of 39 in 2008.

6. South Africa

  • World Rank: 82

The rank of South Africa remained unchanged at 82 in 2018 from 82 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in South Africa averaged 54.36 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 82 in 2017 and a record low of 32 in 2008.

5. Tunisia

  • World Rank: 80

?The rank of Tunisia improved to 80 in 2018 from 88 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Tunisia averaged 65.73 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 88 in 2017 and a record low of 40 in 2010.

The rank of Kenya improved to 61 in 2018 from 80 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Kenya averaged 101.82 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 129 in 2013 and a record low of 61 in 2018.

3. Morocco

  • World Rank: 60

The rank of Morocco improved to 60 in 2018 from 69 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Morocco averaged 90.36 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 130 in 2008 and a record low of 60 in 2018.

2. Rwanda

  • World Rank: 29

The rank of Rwanda improved to 29 in 2018 from 41 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Rwanda averaged 57.36 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 143 in 2008 and a record low of 29 in 2018.

1.Mauritius

  • World Rank: 20

Mauritius is ranked 20 among 190 economies in the ease of doing business, according to the latest World Bank annual ratings. The rank of Mauritius improved to 20 in 2018 from 25 in 2017. Ease of Doing Business in Mauritius averaged 26.55 from 2008 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 49 in 2016 and a record low of 17 in 2009.
