Africa is a conservative continent with many countries’ laws and policies being shaped by their religious beliefs. For example, Christian countries don’t share the same values with Islam countries. So, which religions influence the various African cultures? We are looking that the top religions practiced in Africa based on their popularity. Let’s begin.

10. Jains

  • Population: Approximately 96,000

This ancient religion originating from Inida was founded by Jina Mahavira in the 5th Century BCE. Some of their main principles is that of non violence. They believe that one mus abandon all violent activity and they shouldn’t kill any being.

They also believe in a many-sided reality; it can be experienced but it is not to totally express it with language. Lastly, they believe in non-attachment to worldly possessions. Jains are mainly found in Kenya (Nairobi and Mombasa).

Does anyone know any Jain? I would love to interact with one.
